Chapter
Nov
2003
As this year draws to
a close, we will be spending some time reflecting on the events
of the past year, and deliberating our future programming. Our most
recent successful venture was a pre-Eisteddfod Performers' Workshop
designed to give performing experience to those who have little
opportunity to do so.
This particular workshop
was a delight. The youngest performer was but five years old, and
the oldest - well - who can say? Colin Forbes as accompanist shepherded
these aspiring future stars through their repertoire with sensitivity
and encouragement, and Patricia Davey gave very constructive criticisms
to all performers, offering sound advice as to where to go with
their final preparation for the Eisteddfod.
On the subject of the
Eisteddfod, one of our Committee, Brian White, took over the reins
as Vocal Convenor this year, and a fine job he did, too. No doubt
quietly coached in the wings by former convenor, Phil Perman, ANATS
past President. The very active team of volunteer helpers included
many ANATS members.
We are running another
Performers' Workshop to conclude the year's activities on November
16th, this time calling on the services of the very experienced
and well loved accompanist, Angela Finnegan.
Looking forward to 2004,
after the success of our Professional Development Weekend in June,
another is planned for the new year. We will also be including an
Alexander Technique Workshop in our 2004 calendar. Other ideas are
in the melting pot, and these will be discussed at our final committee
meeting on November 4th.
The Canberra Committee
joins me in wishing you all a very Happy Holiday
