Chapter Recently
in Tassie... Nov 2003 There was a flurry of
activity in July with the $500 ANATS Recital Award at this year's
Hobart Eisteddfod being awarded to 23 year old baritone, Christopher
Richardson, who sang Handel's "Revenge Timotheus Cries",
Schubert's "Gute Nacht" from "Winterreise" and
New Zealand composer Maria Grenfell's "Time". The adjudicator, Glenys
Fowles, commented on Christopher's "gorgeous" voice, excellent
technique and stage presence - a young man with everything going
for him. Members from Devonport
met at Shearwater Country Club on Wednesday 9th July, where we had
a lively discussion on the comparative techniques of Richard Miller
and Jo Estill. Angela Polden and Elizabeth Sandman gave an enthusiastic
report on the recent Estill workshops in Melbourne and we concluded
by watching Richard Miller's video on Voice Registration. We had hoped to hold some
TCE workshops in Burnie at the end of October, but various factors,
including illness have necessitated postponement until next year.
Two members only (Deborah
Witt and Marilyn Smith) attended the National AGM phone link-up
at 10 Elma Rd; Sandy Bay. It appears the combined tyrannies of time
and distance once again took their toll.

it; we'll find a way of reading it.
Photos should be emailed as large as possible up to around 1MB in
file size. The bigger the photo the better.
Any format welcome including JPG, TIFF, BMP etc.
If you're unsure, just try sending the file as you have it and we'll
let you know if we have any hassles with it. We rarely do.
If you only have a hard copy (normal photo on photographic paper),
you're welcome to send it to us for scanning.
