ANATS NSW Presents an Early Career Teaching Session: Raising Little Voices - Singing in the Primary School Classroom
This early career teaching session is a practical workshop to help build skills and resources for new teachers and singers, bringing singing into primary school classrooms, with an emphasis on Early Stage One and Stage Two classes.
This workshop is designed for Early Career Singing Teachers with less than 5 years’ experience.
DATE: Sunday 3rd May
TIME: 11:00am - 1:00pm
VENUE: Green Square Library, Music Room 4th Floor, 355 Botany Rd Zetland
TICKETS:
Our workshop presenter is Cassy Bartolomei who brings and wealth of experience as a professional singer and classroom drama teacher to this event. Cassy presents the value of classroom singing for enhancing children’s learning, as well as an analysis of the resources available and how to make strong choices.
This is a highly interactive workshop with participants engaging in group singing and movement. A fun opportunity to develop your repertoire and specialist skills for younger students.
Cassy Bartolomei has been working as a professional singer for over 30 years, working in jazz clubs, cabaret and comedy festivals, civic and community events, as well as private and corporate functions.
For much of her professional life she has also worked as a singing and acting/drama teacher. She taught acting for 13 years at The Australian Theatre for Young People and for the past 18 years she has been teaching classroom singing at Bondi Beach Public School.
She also runs a Seniors’ Choir for Waverley Council and is the singing teacher at Rose Bay Secondary College. Cassy and her husband, pianist and composer Michael Bartolomei, have written many songs for primary aged students. In 2010 they received an ‘Artists in Schools’ government grant to write a musical for young performers.
PLEASE NOTE: Early Career Teaching Sessions are designed for new teachers with less than 5 years’ experience. We aim these events to teachers with little to no knowledge about the voice and teaching practice. Sessions are basic and are centred around creating a comfortable learning environment for new teachers and building our reach and community with new young members. If you are an experienced teacher these events are not for you! We do value your interest so please keep your eyes out for events next year where we plan to offer more substantial workshops for our experienced teacher community.
