3-5pm AEST May 24th 2026

This webinar addresses vocal health management specifically for professional singers and voice teachers. Grounded in voice science, the session examines how teaching and performance loads impact the vocal mechanism. We will discuss the risks of vocal fatigue and the factors contributing to common voice disorders. While focusing on evidence-based preventive strategies, we will explore how these universal principles apply to the unique challenges of the singing profession—such as adapting to varied acoustic environments (from studios to stages) and managing the diverse vocal demands of different genres. The goal is to provide participants with a robust scientific toolkit to optimize vocal function, mitigate fatigue, and ensure long-term career sustainability in any instructional or artistic setting.

This webinar will be presented by Associate Professor Feifan Wang. Dr. Feifan Wang is an Associate Professor at the School of Humanities and Deputy Director of the Key Laboratory of Linguistic Sciences at Shanghai Normal University. He received his Ph.D. in Speech and Hearing Sciences from the University of Hong Kong. Professor Wang’s research focuses on experimental phonetics, speech-language pathology, and voice science, with publications in the Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research and Journal of Voice. Currently, he serves as the Principal Investigator for a youth project funded by the National Social Science Fund of China and serves as a cultural researcher for the "Shanghai Sound" project at the West Bund Museum.
