Hello members and welcome to 2014,
I recall opening last year's Newsletter One with words to effect of.' the recent, ongoing warm weather Perth has been 'blessed' with makes classroom conditions difficult to say the least '. What an understatement for 2014! No climate change? Here we are in the middle of yet another long, even hotter summer than previously recorded. Good luck everyone!

ANATS BUNBURY WORKSHOP - EVENT 1.
Date: Sunday May 18th 2014
Venue: TBA
Time: 10am - 4pm.
The committee has agreed to support an outreach initiative specifically directed towards our country colleagues and the wider regional teaching community. Bunbury is the first centre to have us present a Professional Development Day.
Two Masterclass sessions will be presented - Classical with the highly experienced Linda Barcan, Voice Lecturer at WAAPA and the Contemporary from the equally versatile Andrea Colcutt. This event is in collaboration with the AMEB. Barry Palmer from the AMEB will be in attendance to discuss the syllabus and include professional observations, expectations & address frequent examination concerns.

WACE SOIREE AUGUST 16 2014 - EVENT 2.
The Anats WACE Soiree returns by popular request from both teachers and students.
Date: Saturday 16th August 2014
Venue: Church of Christ, Dalkeith Road, Nedlands.
Time: 7pm for 7.30pm start.
The usual format will remain with students presenting their examination pieces before a sympathetic audience. Appropriate concert attire is expected and a light supper will be served in the hall after the performances. Please also note this important date in your diaries. Further details closer to the date.
AN IMPORTANT INITIATIVE - INTERNATIONAL ART SONG FESTIVAL, JULY 13-20 2014.
The Inaugural Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts International Art Song Festival, 13-20 July 2014 featuring Master Teachers Dr. Graham Johnson (one of the world's foremost accompanists) and Ms. Deborah Birnbaum (leading exponent of breath management and internationally established teacher). All teachers, performers and students - please give this your keenest support. Applications by Monday 19th May 2014. WA ANATS CHAPTER AGM 2014.
Due to the recent changes in the Anats' National Constitution, the AGM for all State Chapters must be held prior to the National AGM (which is to be August 31st 2014). WA State Chapter's AGM is therefore scheduled for 4pm on August 3rd 2014 at 145 Stubbs Terrace, Daglish.
Further details will be emailed to members via ensuing Newsletters and special event notification where relevant. We look forward to your continuing support of these state activities throughout the year and wish you all a most successful teaching year.
